"I am 43-year old woman with light hair and a light complexion. I have spent the past 20 years using minimal sunscreen and getting extreme sun exposure. The damage to my chest and arms was significant. I had a deep brown, reddish color to the skin. I developed a tremendous amount of sun spots which had grown larger over time. The texture was rough, weathered in appearance.

To start to correct my damage, I had two IPL treatments (Photo rejuvenation) to the chest area. The first IPL was extremely strong; it was like having a bad sunburn. Over a week or two, some of my sun damage (freckles) physically peeled off; however, I was left with the lines of the crystal marks so I had light and dark spots all over the chest. I repeated a second IPL, which lightened the skin a bit in certain areas, but the marks to the crystals were still apparent. It was after the second IPL treatment that I decided to do a laser peel with the MediDerm. Dr. De Juliis performed the deepest peel using the high setting. The procedure itself, I tolerated well, the doctor had used a topical anesthetic to help with any discomfort. At first, my chest was swollen and red for 2 to 3 days; I began to peel by the fourth day. I continued peeling for about 7 to 10 days and the results were amazing.

My chest looked youthful again! The rough, weathered look of the skin was replaced with younger, obviously newer looking skin. The remains of the crystal marks from the IPL were gone and my skin was even toned. Any remaining sun damage was lightened even further and my chest and shoulders have been completely rejuvenated! The results were amazing – I was originally told I needed 5 IPL treatments and I've only completed two because the laser peel resurfaced the skin and gave me the results I was looking for in one treatment.
